# Exports

Allegro can export large lists — your purchases and your audience members — as CSV files. Exports are generated in the background, so you can start one and keep working: when the file is ready, Allegro emails you a download link and the export appears on the **Exports** page, ready to download.

To see your exports, go to **Exports** in the main navigation.

## Starting an export[](#starting-an-export "Direct link to Starting an export")

You start an export from the page whose data you want:

| Export | Where to start it |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| Purchases | The **Export** button on the **Purchases** page. |
| Audience members | The **Export** button on the **Audience** page. |

The export always reflects the **filters and search** active on that page when you click **Export** — so to export a subset, narrow the list first, then export. The whole matching set is included, not just the page you are viewing.

After you click **Export**, Allegro confirms that the export is being generated and that it will email you a link when it's ready. You don't need to stay on the page.

How many exports you can start

To keep the queue healthy, you can start up to **three exports per minute**. If you go over, Allegro asks you to wait a few seconds before trying again.

## The Exports page[](#the-exports-page "Direct link to The Exports page")

The **Exports** page lists every export across your organization, most recent first, and refreshes on its own while any export is still being generated. Each row shows:

| Column | Description |
| ---------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Type** | What was exported — Purchases or Audience members. |
| **Status** | Where the export is in its lifecycle (see below). |
| **Requested by** | The admin who started the export. |
| **Rows** | The number of records in the file, once it has finished. |
| **Size** | The size of the generated file. |
| **Created** | When the export was started. |
| **Download** | A **Download** button, shown only while the file is available. |

### Statuses[](#statuses "Direct link to Statuses")

| Status | Meaning |
| -------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Pending** | The export is queued and waiting to start. |
| **Processing** | Allegro is building the file. |
| **Completed** | The file is ready to download. |
| **Failed** | Something went wrong while generating the file. Start a new export. |
| **Expired** | The file was completed but has passed its download window (see below). |

## Downloading and retention[](#downloading-and-retention "Direct link to Downloading and retention")

When an export completes, Allegro emails the admin who started it a link to the file, and a **Download** button appears on the export's row. Each file stays available for **7 days** after it was created. After that the export is marked **Expired**, the file is removed, and the **Download** button no longer appears — start a new export to get a fresh copy.

What's in the file

Purchase and audience-member exports are standard CSV files you can open in any spreadsheet. For the exact columns in a purchases export, see [Purchases](/product/entitlements/purchases.md#exporting-purchases).
